The Rainbow Trail
The Rainbow Trail
By: Zane Grey
This sequel to Riders of the Purple Sage (also available as a Large Print World Classic) takes place ten years after the events in the original novel. John Shefford learns of the story of Jane Withersteen, the gunman Lassiter and Fay Larkin, Jane’s adopted daughter, and their hideaway in Surprise Valley from Bern Venters, a non-Mormon friend of Jane’s. Discredited as a minister and unsure of his faith, Shefford decides to look for Fay Larkin and the inhabitants of Surprise Valley. Along the way he is befriended by a noble Navajo and a young Mormon and learns about Mormon “sealed wives,” of which Larkin is one. In the end he not only finds Larkin and Surprise Valley but the sacred Navajo Rainbow Trail itself.
