To the Last Man

Part Native American Jean Isbel came to the Tonto Basin in Arizona, summoned by his father Gaston to help in his struggle with sheepherders over grazing land for his cattle. When Jean arrived from Oregon, he found that the true struggle was a blood feud between the Isbels and the Jorths, driven by Gaston’s unforgiving anger toward Lee Jorth who had married his fiancée while Gaston was off fighting for the Confederacy. It should have been easy for Jean to stand by his father, right or wrong, but his allegiance was complicated by his love for Ellen Jorth, Lee Jorth’s daughter by his father’s former love.
