About Us

The Large Print Book Company LLC was originally founded by Thomas T. Beeler (1944–2019) in New Hampshire, with the mission to publish first-quality large print editions of popular fiction titles to meet the needs of both the print challenged and those who prefer larger type and darker printing to enhance their reading enjoyment. Over the years, he used his literary knowledge to focus on works in the public domain that had been overlooked by other large print providers. He passed the company on to his niece, Val Cooper, who had been following his footsteps in the publishing industry since 1991.

Now reincorporated in Maine, the Large Print Book Company LLC continues to hold Tom’s mission and values: to serve people with visual challenges by providing classic literature in large print. We look to uncover hidden gems from previously under-represented voices as well as publish timeless well-known works.

Our large print paperback editions are 6 by 9 inches (154 mm x 229 mm), with full-color, laminated covers. The hardcover editions feature laminated paper-over-board covers. Each book is individually designed and typeset in 16-point or larger type (children's titles are set in 18-point type), compared to the usual 10 or 11-point type found in trade publications.

Our books are printed to order by Sheridan, a division of CJK Group, which is devoted to constant improvement in sustainability practices.

We include running heads and generous thumb margins in our text designs. We believe the extra paper used to provide legible running heads and adequate thumb margins are necessary for our readers’ comfort.

Printing on demand minimizes the environmental impact of paper consumption, inventory management, and book storage. There is zero wasted inventory.

We welcome feedback from our readers. Check out our blog about our latest activity on our homepage, largeprintbookco.com.
