Anne of Avonlea This sequel to Anne of Green Gables recounts Anne’s life from 16 to 18, the two years she teaches at Avonlea school. In it Anne discovers the delights of being a teacher, helps Marilla raise orphan twins, cofounds the Avonlea Village Improvement Society, and discovers the reclusive occupant of Echo Lodge, Miss Lavendar Lewis. Many things change in Avonlea, even Anne, who finds that the real world is sometimes more romantic than she imagines. |

Anne of the Island This sequel to Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea follows Anne Shirley as she finally achieves her goal of going to college and earning a bachelor’s degree. She leaves her beloved Prince Edward Island to go to Redmond College in Kingsport, Nova Scotia. There she forms friendships with three classmates and together they rent a house, Patty’s Place, where they study and share life experiences. Anne is courted by the monied Roy Gardner, but somehow her old friend Gilbert Blythe, who is also at Redmond, keeps upsetting her and her plans. |
