The Lost World introduces Arthur Conan Doyle’s other famous character (after Sherlock Holmes), Professor George Edward Challenger, the controversial zoologist who claims to have discovered a lost world of Jurassic animals deep in the jungles of Brazil, isolated from the rest of the world. His discovery is disputed, and to prove he is right, Challenger agrees to allow an expedition, including his chief critic, to explore the lost world. Wealthy explorer Lord John Roxton leads the team, accompanied by Journalist Edward Malone, whose dispatches chronicle the exciting and dangerous adventure.

Arthur Conan Doyle
Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930) was an unsuccessful doctor who wrote stories to fill time between infrequent patients. He created Sherlock Holmes in 1887 and went on to write four novels and 56 stories featuring the ingenious detective and his biographer companion Dr. John Watson.
