Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) published his first story, “Under the Moons of Mars,” in 1911, and his first Tarzan novel, Tarzan of the Apes in 1912. Tarzan was his most successful creation, and he was the first to transfer the character to other media, including comic strips and movies.
