
Mary E. Wilkins Freeman
Mary E. Wilkins Freeman (1852-1930) was a noted New England short story writer who was born and spent most of her life in Randolph, Massachusetts. While she is considered one of the best New England “local color” writers based on two books, A Humble Romance and Other Stories (1887) and A New England Nun and Other Stories (1891), she also wrote some of the best ghost stories in American Literature.
