Susan Coolidge

Susan Coolidge is the pen name of Sarah Chauncey Woolsey (1835–1905). Born in Cleveland, she spent much of her childhood in New Haven, Connecticut. Woolsey served as a nurse during the Civil War, after which she started to write. She is best known for her classic children’s novel What Katy Did (1872).
